Don't Let a Missing Tooth Hold You Back in Life

Four Cosmetic Options for Changing the Appearance of Your Smile

by Wyatt Morgan

Your smile is a big part of your outward appearance, which is why you need to ensure that your smile looks and feels good to you. One way to change the appearance of your smile is through cosmetic dental care, which is all about giving you a smile that looks and feels good.

Cosmetic Option #1: Teeth Whitening

If you don't like the color of your teeth, that is an issue that a cosmetic dentist can easily fix. If your teeth have become stained due to poor hygiene or just because of the food you choose to eat, you can work with a cosmetic dentist to improve the color of your smile.

A cosmetic dentist will come up with a custom whitening kit for your teeth, as all your teeth may not be stained the same amount and may not need the same amount of whitening. They will ensure that the whitening process improves the color of your teeth and the visuals of your smile without damaging the outer surface of your teeth.

Cosmetic Option #2: Veneers

If you don't like the appearance of your smile, one way to fix that is with veneers. With veneers, thin material is permanently fixed to the front of your teeth. It is basically like putting up a false front on your teeth. The structure of your teeth will not be changed; instead, they will be hidden behind the veneer. The veneer will give you a picture-perfect smile with teeth that are not damaged or discolored at all. Your natural tooth structure will be saved, and your visual appearance will also be improved.

Cosmetic Option #3: Crown

A crown is another way to deal with a damaged tooth. A crown is a little different than veneers. Veneers typically go over all your visible teeth. Crowns are usually only attached to teeth that are damaged. They are used to strengthen weak teeth and to hide damage as well. A crown is designed to adhere to your teeth permanently. It covers your entire tooth, including the back.

Cosmetic Option #4: Implant

If you have a missing tooth, you could go for an implant. You can get a freestanding implant that functions individually, or you can get a bridge, where a false tooth is put into place and supported by the surrounding teeth. Either way, if you have a tooth that is entirely missing, you can get it replaced.

If you want to change the appearance of your smile, talk to a cosmetic dentistry office about your specific needs. They will be able to work with you to improve the appearance of your smile and allow you to smile at the world with confidence.
